PR’s ‘Iceman’ completes 100th dip

Peace River’s Iceman has completed his goal of taking 100 consecutive ice water dips.
John Mark Earle has been cutting holes in the ice of the Peace River and other local bodies of water every day since Dec. 16, 2019 and then submerging himself despite northern Alberta’s freezing winter temperatures.


Citizens take to streets to protest

A wave of protests against the provincial budget swept as far as Peace River and Slave Lake on Feb. 29.
Protests were held in major centres like Calgary, Red Deer, and Edmonton, as well as in many smaller rural communities.


Coolest show on ice!

Skaters of all ages sparkled on the ice at the Baytex Arena during the Peace River Skating Club’s annual ice show.
“So You Think You Can Skate” drew a crowd on March 1 as skaters showed off their lunges, toe jumps, spins and lifts.
