St. Augustine Mission, once the site of a residential school, will receive some upgrades to historical signage and landscaping thanks to a $34,000 federal grant.
The site is located on Shaftesbury Trail near the Peace River Correctional Centre, where a church built in 1894 and a barn built in 1930 still stand. It was also known as Smoky Forks and Forks Mission.
Peace River MLA Dan Williams says his constituents want a new bridge and are willing to pay tolls to get it.
The issue of potential tolls on Alberta roads and bridges came up during the last provincial election, when then-premier Rachel Notley warned the UCP plan to add user fees to infrastructure hinted at by Jason Kenney would actually mean tolls.
Hailey Stone is fighting to get some support for her 2 1/2-year-old son, Henry, after he was denied provincial funding for much-needed therapies.
Stone has taken to Facebook to try to tell his story and get support not only for Henry, but for other children in a similar position.
