PR Soup Kitchen gets financial boost

A lot more people have been eating at the Peace River Community Soup Kitchen.
The soup kitchen has been providing free community meals on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays since 2007, but only started tracking how many people were using the service a few years ago.


College honours long-serving employees

Northern Lakes College celebrated long- serving and retiring employees at the college’s annual Long-Service Awards Night in Slave Lake on Oct. 23.
The evening celebrated a total of 425 years of combined service among all recipients, says an NLC news release dated Oct. 23.


Shelters must go, rules appeal board

Two prototype shelters must be removed from downtown Peace River after an appeal of the decision was denied.
The mobile shelters were built by the PurpleRung Foundation, founded by Brent Taylor of Gun-Shy Investments and his partner, Trudy Plazier.


Potable water now flowing to Dixonville and area

Water from the Town of Peace River is now flowing west to Dixonville and surrounding areas.
“This is a great moment for our municipalities, especially County of Northern Lights. We now have potable water in Weberville, Warrensville and Dixonville,” Reeve Terry Ungarian says.
